Shreveport, LA – A winter storm watch has been issued for portions of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma from Thursday morning through Friday morning. Forecasters warn of heavy snow, ice, and potentially hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport, the region could see snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches and ice buildup of up to half an inch. The most affected areas include bridges and overpasses, which may become impassable. Power outages and tree damage are also expected.

The NWS advises residents to delay travel if possible and to prepare emergency kits with essentials such as blankets, water, and flashlights. Commutes on Thursday morning and evening could be severely disrupted due to slick roads.

With travel expected to be challenging, drivers should equip their vehicles with tire chains and other safety tools. Stay updated by monitoring local weather reports for changes to the forecast.
