Cumberland, MD – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for parts of Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, warning of dangerous travel conditions this weekend.
The National Weather Service predicts a mix of snow, ice, and strong winds across the region starting Sunday morning and lasting through Monday morning. Garrett and Allegany Counties in Maryland, along with Mineral County in West Virginia, could see up to 6 inches of snow in some areas, with freezing rain creating treacherous conditions.
Eastern Tucker County, WV, may experience up to a quarter-inch of ice, accompanied by wind gusts up to 25 mph. Similar conditions are expected in Pocahontas and Randolph Counties, where 1–4 inches of snow is forecast. These conditions could lead to widespread power outages, tree damage, and slippery roads, especially impacting Monday morning commutes.
Travelers are urged to prepare for icy roads and limited visibility, avoiding unnecessary trips during the storm. Residents should stock up on essential supplies, charge devices, and monitor updates from local authorities.
