Buffalo, NY – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of western and central New York, bringing a mix of snow, ice, and gusty winds that could make travel hazardous through Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Monroe, Wayne, Cayuga, Oswego, Livingston, Ontario, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties. Snowfall is expected to range from 2 to 7 inches, with the heaviest accumulation in Jefferson and Lewis counties. Ice accumulation could reach a tenth of an inch in some areas.

The storm will arrive Wednesday afternoon, impacting the evening commute, and continue through early Thursday. Wind gusts up to 45 mph may cause isolated power outages, particularly near Lake Erie.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution as roads become slick. Those in areas expecting heavier snowfall should prepare for reduced visibility. The National Weather Service encourages residents to report snow and ice conditions via social media.

The advisory is set to expire by 7 p.m. Thursday for Jefferson and Lewis counties, while most other areas should see improving conditions by early Thursday morning.
