Albuquerque, NM – A winter storm warning remains in effect for portions of New Mexico, including Raton Pass and Union County, until 11 p.m. MST Saturday.

Heavy snow continues to fall, with an additional accumulation of up to one inch expected. According to the National Weather Service, slick and hazardous conditions are likely on roads, especially bridges and overpasses. Areas of blowing snow could reduce visibility to less than one-quarter mile at times.

Temperatures in the region are dangerously cold, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. Officials urge residents to stay indoors unless travel is absolutely necessary.

For those who must go outside, the National Weather Service advises dressing in layers, covering exposed skin, and using hats, scarves, and gloves to retain body heat. Motorists should exercise caution and avoid travel along Interstate 25 if possible.

This storm is expected to subside later tonight, with improving conditions on Sunday. Stay tuned for updates on weather and road conditions as they develop.
