Thomas, WV – A powerful winter storm is set to disrupt New Year’s celebrations across Eastern Preston and Tucker Counties.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday. Snowfall between 6 and 9 inches is expected, with wind gusts reaching 50 mph. The storm could make travel hazardous, especially during Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
Roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick, creating dangerous conditions for drivers. Residents should avoid travel unless necessary and carry essential supplies such as food, water, and a flashlight. Tree branches could snap under the combined weight of snow and high winds, potentially causing power outages.
The NWS advises monitoring local road conditions by dialing 511 and reporting snowfall through social media or directly by phone. Prepare for delays or interruptions as this storm unfolds.
