Northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania face dangerous conditions tonight as lake-effect snow intensifies, particularly near I-90 and surrounding areas. A Lake-Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for Ashtabula, Erie, and Crawford counties through 1 AM Saturday, with snowfall rates reaching 1 inch per hour at times.

Visibility will drop below a quarter of a mile in the heaviest bursts, making travel hazardous. Roads like I-90 in Ohio and PA will experience slick surfaces and wind gusts up to 25 mph, causing rapid changes in driving conditions. Snow accumulation is expected to total 6-12 inches, with some areas near Erie potentially receiving up to 10 inches.

After the snow tapers off early Saturday morning, temperatures will rise slightly, bringing a chance of rain to kick off the workweek. Slippery roads will remain an issue throughout Saturday as lingering snow keeps conditions icy, especially in shaded areas.

Looking ahead, temperatures will climb to the low 40s by Monday, with rain showers expected to develop across the region. The week ahead will feature fluctuating conditions, including more rain by midweek before colder air returns late next week.
