Mobile, AL – A rare winter storm warning has been issued for portions of southern Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast Mississippi. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snowfall could be heavy at times, leading to hazardous road conditions. Bridges and overpasses are particularly at risk of becoming slick. The storm is expected to impact morning and evening commutes on Tuesday, creating significant travel disruptions across the region.

Areas affected include Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, and Covington counties in Alabama; Santa Rosa and Escambia counties in Florida; and Wayne, Perry, and George counties in Mississippi.

The NWS advises residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. If driving is unavoidable, prepare by keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle, including a flashlight, food, and water.
