Davenport, IA – Snow is set to impact portions of Illinois and Iowa today, with up to 4 inches expected. Commuters along I-80 and U.S. 67 should brace for icy roads and reduced visibility throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday for areas including Johnson, Keokuk, and Scott counties in Iowa, as well as Mercer and Rock Island counties in Illinois. Snowfall will begin mid-morning, intensifying in the afternoon before tapering off by evening.

Roadways are expected to become slick, especially during peak travel times. Officials urge drivers to reduce speeds, allow extra travel time, and prepare for possible delays. For current road conditions, visit 511ia.org for Iowa updates or GettingAroundIllinois.com for Illinois reports.

Friday will bring drier conditions but much colder temperatures, with highs near 22°F and northwest winds up to 20 mph. The weekend forecast includes partly sunny skies Saturday, followed by a chance of light snow Sunday. Temperatures will remain frigid, with highs in the low 20s and lows dipping into the teens.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for the snowy and cold start to the New Year. Stay updated by monitoring local forecasts and using caution during travel.
