Missoula, MT – The National Weather Service in Missoula has issued Wind Advisories for multiple areas of northwest Montana, including the Kootenai/Cabinet Region, Lower Clark Fork Region, and the West Glacier Region.
The advisories take effect at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday for most areas and continue until midnight or 2 a.m. MST Sunday (Nov. 2), depending on location.
Forecasters expect southwest winds from 15 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, strongest during the evening and early overnight hours.
According to the NWS, these winds could knock down small tree limbs, blow around unsecured outdoor items, and cause isolated power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should exercise extra caution, especially on routes along Highway 2, U.S. 93, and near the Continental Divide.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor decorations, patio furniture, and trash bins before winds increase this afternoon.
Winds are expected to gradually subside by early Sunday morning, giving way to calmer but cooler conditions.
