Wilmington, N.C. – Patchy fog and isolated thunderstorms could create visibility and travel issues across southeastern North Carolina tonight, with a 30% chance of rain near Wilmington before skies clear by early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, brief downpours and fog are likely after 5 p.m. Sunday in the Belville and Leland areas. Winds will shift from southeast to north overnight as temperatures drop to the mid-60s.

The rest of the week looks dry and calm across New Hanover and Brunswick counties. Monday through Wednesday will bring sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s, with only light winds expected. Nighttime lows will hold steady in the low to mid-60s. Coastal communities like Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach should see ideal beach weather, though UV indexes may be high.

Drivers are urged to use caution tonight in areas where fog could reduce visibility, especially along U.S. Route 17 and Highway 133. Residents should also secure loose outdoor items, as brief gusty winds may accompany tonight’s isolated storms.

Storm chances return Friday and Saturday, with another 30–40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Expect updated advisories later this week.
