Wichita Heat Index Reaches 105: Rain Expected by Sunday

Wichita, KS – Wichita is experiencing extreme heat today, with a heat index expected to reach 105 degrees. Residents are advised to stay well-hydrated and take frequent breaks if spending time outdoors.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wichita, temperatures will feel like standing under a blow dryer, with hot and breezy conditions prevailing. The high for today is projected to reach 101 degrees, with similar conditions expected throughout the region, including Emporia and Coffeyville, where temperatures might hit 107 degrees.

The forecast for the weekend shows some relief from the extreme heat. On Saturday, the high is predicted to be 94 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Sunday brings a 45% chance of rain and cooler temperatures, with a high of 85 degrees.

The heat will return at the start of the week, with Monday’s high expected to be 98 degrees under sunny skies. Tuesday could see temperatures soar to 102 degrees, accompanied by breezy conditions. By Wednesday, there’s a 35% chance of rain, with a high of 87 degrees anticipated.
