Pittsburgh, Pa. – Storm-weary western Pennsylvania faces another round of severe thunderstorms Sunday, with damaging winds and localized flooding possible by midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Marginal Risk for severe weather remains in place across Allegheny County and areas east and south of the city through Sunday night. Storms could begin as early as 8 a.m., with the most intense activity expected between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Isolated flash flooding is a concern, especially near creeks and low-lying areas. Southbound traffic along Route 51 and Route 28 may experience delays due to poor visibility and water accumulation.
Rainfall totals may exceed a half inch in areas hit by multiple storms. The primary hazards include 40–60 mph wind gusts and brief downpours that could overwhelm storm drains. Residents are advised to avoid travel during active storms and secure outdoor items.
By Monday, scattered showers will linger, with a 70% chance of rain and a high of 78°F. Thunderstorms are possible again in the afternoon, followed by cooler air Monday night.
Sunshine returns midweek with highs climbing into the mid-80s, offering a taste of full summer by Thursday.
⚠️ Stay weather-aware and prepare for power outages or localized flooding through Monday.
