Pittsburgh, PA – Strong thunderstorms could bring damaging winds and hail to western Pennsylvania and north-central West Virginia through 10 p.m. Tuesday, as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for 13 counties across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, Watch 191 includes nine Pennsylvania counties—among them Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland, and Fayette—and four counties in West Virginia, including Monongalia and Preston. Residents in cities like Greensburg, Uniontown, Morgantown, and Fairmont should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions.
Gusty winds up to 60 mph and isolated large hail are the main threats, with heavy rain also possible in some areas. Outdoor activities should be postponed, and drivers are urged to use caution, especially along Routes 22, 119, and I-79, where sudden downpours could reduce visibility.
Power outages are possible due to downed tree limbs. Charge devices now, and secure loose outdoor items. Residents in higher elevation areas like Terra Alta and Davis may see more intense wind gusts.
The watch expires at 10 p.m., but additional warnings may follow if storms persist into the night. Stay tuned to local alerts and NOAA Weather Radio for updates.
