Buffalo, N.Y. – A burst of summer heat is sweeping across western and central New York, with temperatures expected to top out between 85°F and 91°F by Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a warming trend will continue today across the region, with Tuesday highs mainly in the low to mid-80s. The warmest areas will include Buffalo, Rochester, and Batavia, where dry, sunny conditions will dominate.

Cities like Syracuse, Jamestown, and Wellsville will also feel the summer surge, with highs reaching into the low 80s. Drivers and outdoor workers are urged to stay hydrated and limit sun exposure during peak afternoon hours. With little cloud cover, UV levels will be high.

Wednesday marks the peak of this warm spell before showers and possible thunderstorms roll in Thursday, dropping temperatures into the mid-70s. Friday is expected to stay mild with a chance of lingering showers and highs around 73°F to 80°F.

Heat-sensitive individuals should plan accordingly, and residents are encouraged to check on vulnerable neighbors or pets. The National Weather Service may issue heat advisories if conditions intensify.
