Buffalo, New York – A sharp cooldown is sweeping across western New York tonight, sending temperatures well below seasonal averages just as residents head into the final stretch of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a much colder air mass will settle in through Friday and Saturday, keeping daytime highs largely in the 20s and 30s across the region. Overnight lows will dip even further, bringing a return to winter-like conditions after recent mild weather.

Cities including Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Jamestown may see a few lingering rain showers mix with or change to wet snow late tonight into early Friday, especially during the morning hours. Roads could become slick in isolated spots during the early commute, though mainly dry conditions are expected for much of Friday afternoon and into the weekend.

While most of the weekend stays quiet, a few scattered snow showers remain possible Saturday night, particularly inland and across higher terrain. Travel impacts should remain minimal, but colder օդ temperatures may catch some off guard.

A noticeable warmup begins late Sunday, with highs climbing back into the 40s and 50s by Monday. Rain chances increase again by early next week, especially by Tuesday, as a more active pattern returns.

Five Day Forecast for Buffalo, New York

Friday: High near 43°F, low around 28°F, early mix possible then dry
