Buffalo, NY – Parts of western New York are buried under significant snow, with Oswego County recording 65 inches in Williamstown over the weekend. This intense lake-effect snow event continues to create hazardous conditions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, the snowfall has been most severe in areas southeast of Lake Ontario, particularly in Oswego County. Reports also indicate significant totals in Cattaraugus County, where Salamanca recorded 18 inches, and Allegany County, which saw 11 inches near Richburg. Jefferson County experienced lighter accumulations, with Adams reporting 4 inches.

Drivers should exercise caution on roadways like Route 104 and Interstate 81, where heavy snowfall has led to reduced visibility and slippery conditions. Officials warn that additional snow showers are expected through Tuesday morning, with another 1–3 inches possible in some areas. Temperatures will remain frigid, with highs in the low 20s and overnight lows dipping into the teens.

A break from snow is forecast on Thursday, with partly sunny skies, but colder weather and another snow system are expected to return Friday into Saturday, increasing the risk of significant accumulations over the weekend.

Residents in western New York are urged to limit travel during peak snowfall and prepare for delays and disruptions. Stay informed by checking NWS updates and local alerts for changing weather conditions.
