Buffalo, NY – Lake effect snow warnings remain in effect across western and central New York, with up to 3 feet of snow expected in some areas by Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snow will fall in Oswego and southern Lewis counties, where totals could approach 3 feet. Winds gusting up to 40 mph will create blowing and drifting snow, leading to near-zero visibility and hazardous travel conditions.
Other areas, including southern Jefferson County, may see up to 8 inches of snow, while Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Erie counties could receive between 8 and 20 inches. Northern and eastern Wayne County are forecasted to accumulate as much as 2 feet by Sunday evening.
The snow will fall in narrow bands, leading to rapidly changing road conditions. Drivers are urged to use caution and anticipate delays, particularly during the Friday morning and evening commutes.
