Grand Rapids, MI – Western Michigan is bracing for significant snowfall today, with totals expected to reach up to six inches in some areas by 7 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Rapids, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the region until this evening. The advisory covers areas including Mason, Lake, Ottawa, Allegan, and Kent counties. Snowfall totals are anticipated to range between 1 and 4 inches across most of the region, with localized amounts of up to 6 inches in select areas.

Residents are urged to prepare for hazardous travel conditions, especially during the morning and evening commutes. The NWS advises drivers to slow down and exercise caution on snow-covered roads as slippery conditions are expected to persist throughout the day.

The advisory highlights the need for preparedness as temperatures remain cold and snow continues to accumulate. Communities along the Lake Michigan shoreline, including Muskegon and Holland, may experience heavier localized snowfall due to lake-effect snow patterns.

Travelers are encouraged to check road conditions and delay unnecessary trips. Additional updates and advisories will be issued as weather conditions evolve.
