Grand Rapids, MI – Snow showers are sweeping through western Michigan on Monday, with Central Lower counties expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of accumulation by late evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, snow is expected throughout the day, particularly on grassy surfaces, with most other areas seeing up to an inch. Temperatures will remain cold, with highs ranging between 32 and 39 degrees. Winds from the west at 20 to 30 mph will contribute to blustery conditions, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph.

Motorists should plan for reduced visibility and slick roads, especially in rural areas and during peak snowfall periods. The weather may cause delays for schools and commuters across Kent, Ottawa, and surrounding counties in the Central Lower Peninsula.

Residents are advised to use caution while traveling, secure outdoor items, and dress in layers to protect against wind chill. While late March snowfall is not uncommon for this region, today’s wind speeds and snow accumulation could create hazardous conditions.

Snow is expected to taper off Monday night, with conditions improving by early Tuesday as winds diminish and temperatures begin a slow climb toward seasonal norms.
