Paducah, KY – A prolonged round of severe weather is expected to impact western Kentucky beginning late Friday and continuing through Easter Sunday, bringing heightened risks of tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, strong to severe thunderstorms are likely each day through the weekend. Friday night into early Saturday may bring the first wave, with damaging winds and hail as the primary threats. Saturday afternoon and evening will continue the severe potential across the region.

By Sunday, tornado risk increases alongside the ongoing threats of hail and strong wind gusts. Forecast models show the region has a 50-70% chance of receiving at least one inch of rain between Friday and Sunday, and a 20-40% chance of more than two inches.

Localized flash flooding is possible, especially along small creeks and streams in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to monitor weather alerts closely, avoid driving through flooded roads, and secure outdoor items ahead of strong wind gusts.

The National Weather Service encourages Kentuckians to remain weather-aware throughout the weekend and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, particularly overnight.
