Paducah, Kentucky – Floodwaters along the Ohio River continue to threaten parts of western Kentucky as a Flood Warning remains in effect until early Wednesday morning. Moderate flooding is ongoing at Paducah, with roads near the river, including U.S. Route 60, remaining high-risk zones for residents and travelers.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the river level at 7 p.m. Sunday stood at 44.1 feet — well above the 39-foot flood stage. Water levels are expected to dip below flood stage by Tuesday evening in Paducah and Smithland, and by Friday in Cairo. Until then, anyone near riverbanks should avoid walking or driving in low-lying areas.

Looking ahead, spring thunderstorms are forecast to return to the region by Wednesday night, with the strongest storms expected Thursday and Friday. These storms could bring locally heavy rain and frequent lightning, with flash flooding possible in areas already waterlogged.

Tuesday offers a dry break, with sunshine and a high near 79°F. Calm winds make for a quiet day before storm chances increase later in the week.
