Paducah, Kentucky – Strong thunderstorms may rumble across western Kentucky late Sunday into Monday, bringing isolated wind gusts and small hail threats as another cold front sweeps through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, widespread severe weather is not expected, but “renegade” storms could intensify in localized pockets, especially Sunday night through Monday afternoon. The highest rain and storm chances—up to 75%—are forecast for cities like Marion, Hopkinsville, and Henderson between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday.

While the bulk of the state will see showers and scattered storms, the main concern lies in those few cells that could briefly turn severe. Winds over 50 mph and hail may develop in areas where atmospheric instability peaks. The front will pass by late Monday, ushering in a few drier days before humid, unstable air returns by Thursday.

Drivers should remain cautious during Monday morning and evening commutes, particularly on I-24 and US-60. Outdoor plans may need adjusting, and residents are encouraged to secure loose items, monitor local alerts, and avoid outdoor work during peak storm hours.

The NWS says additional advisories are unlikely unless storms organize unexpectedly. A return to summerlike humidity and storm chances is expected later in the week.
