Paducah, Kentucky – Rain and thunderstorms could sweep into the Quad State area tonight as a low-pressure system approaches, increasing cloud cover and chances for overnight showers from southeast Missouri to western Kentucky.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the best chance for storms will be west of the Mississippi River, where a frontal boundary is expected to push through after sunset. Temperatures will remain mild, with overnight lows ranging from 50 to 58 degrees.

Communities in western Kentucky, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri could hear thunder or encounter brief downpours, especially in areas like Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, and Mayfield. While severe weather is not expected, drivers are urged to be cautious on slick roads and avoid low-lying areas prone to ponding.

Residents are advised to charge devices in case of isolated power outages and secure loose outdoor items. While this system is not expected to produce widespread flooding, it marks an early signal of a more active spring weather pattern.

More showers are possible Tuesday morning as the system lingers. The National Weather Service will issue updates if conditions worsen overnight.
