Paducah, KY – Residents in western Kentucky and southeastern Missouri are preparing for potentially hazardous winter weather as a Winter Storm Watch has been issued from late Thursday night through Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches are possible in the affected regions, which include cities such as Mayfield, Murray, Madisonville, and New Madrid. Temperatures are expected to remain near or below freezing, allowing snow to quickly accumulate on roads, bridges, and overpasses.

A separate Winter Storm Watch issued by the National Weather Service in Louisville includes east central, north central, and south central Kentucky. Areas such as Bowling Green, Bardstown, and Richmond could see 4 to 5 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible.

The hazardous conditions are expected to impact both the Friday morning and evening commutes. Officials advise residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to prepare vehicles for winter conditions if travel is unavoidable.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, allow extra time for travel, and stay updated with the latest forecasts and advisories.

Stay tuned for updates as the storm approaches.
