Grand Junction, CO – Snow showers in Colorado’s southern mountains are expected to linger into Tuesday night, bringing a mix of cool and cloudy conditions to much of the region. The National Weather Service reports that clearing skies tonight will usher in single-digit lows Wednesday morning, creating chilly conditions for early commuters.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, temperatures across the region will stay below average, with highs peaking in the low 40s today and dipping as low as 17 degrees overnight. Winds remain light, but travelers in and around the San Juans should expect slick conditions due to accumulating snowfall. Drivers along U.S. Highway 550 are urged to exercise caution as snow tapers off late tonight.
Looking ahead, Wednesday will bring sunny skies and slightly warmer conditions, with highs reaching the upper 30s in Grand Junction. Calm winds will make for a pleasant, though chilly, midweek day. By Thursday, mostly sunny skies continue, and highs approach 40 degrees, providing a brief reprieve before snow chances return by Friday night and into the weekend.
The extended forecast predicts a slight chance of snow showers late Friday, with Saturday highs reaching 42 degrees under partly sunny skies. Residents are encouraged to stay informed on changing conditions as the weekend approaches.
Be sure to bundle up as lows stay frigid in the teens through Thursday night.
