Charleston, WV – West Virginia remains under a Winter Weather Advisory through Thursday morning as snowfall continues to affect the region. Residents can expect slippery roads and reduced visibility, particularly along higher elevations such as I-64 and the surrounding mountain areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, 2 to 5 inches of snow is forecast in the central and northern mountains. Lower elevations will see lighter snow showers, with accumulation ranging from 1 to 3 inches. Flurries are expected to persist into Thursday morning, creating challenging driving conditions.

By Friday, temperatures will drop further, with lows near 9°F and wind chills below zero, especially overnight. The next significant round of snow is anticipated Friday evening, lasting into Saturday. Forecasters predict higher accumulation over mountainous terrain, with chances for 4 inches or more in some areas.

Drivers are urged to monitor conditions, especially on icy roads like I-64 and local highways. Authorities recommend reducing speeds and carrying emergency supplies in vehicles. Power outages may occur in isolated areas due to snow buildup.

Looking ahead, conditions improve slightly by Sunday, with partly sunny skies and highs near 35°F. However, another storm system could develop early next week, potentially bringing more snow.

Residents should check updated forecasts and prepare for the weekend storm by stocking up on essentials and ensuring vehicles are winter-ready. Stay informed through local alerts and weather services for the latest updates.
