Charleston, WV – Charleston residents can look forward to a dry and sunny weekend before rain returns to the area next week, possibly impacting commutes along major routes such as I-64 and I-79. After several days of intermittent drizzle and showers, skies are expected to clear starting Saturday, bringing mild temperatures and ideal conditions for outdoor activities through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, the precipitation coverage for Friday will taper off by evening, concentrating in the nearby mountains. Temperatures are projected to reach a high of 57 degrees Friday with patchy drizzle early on. Saturday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and calm conditions, with highs around 58 degrees, providing a clear, mild backdrop for weekend plans.

Sunday will maintain the dry trend, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 66 degrees, making it the warmest day of the weekend. By Monday, temperatures are expected to hold steady in the mid-60s, although clouds may begin to gather, hinting at a change in weather for the start of the workweek.

The National Weather Service cautions residents and commuters to prepare for potential travel delays on Tuesday, as an approaching storm system could bring substantial rainfall. Showers are likely to begin in the early morning and continue through the afternoon, with a 70% chance of rain expected. High temperatures on Tuesday will peak in the mid-60s, while lows dip to around 52 degrees overnight.

For those traveling along routes like I-64 and I-77, the midweek rain could create slick conditions and reduced visibility. Drivers are urged to plan for slower commutes during peak hours, especially in areas prone to standing water.

Keep an eye on updated forecasts as Tuesday approaches, and prepare for a mix of dry and rainy conditions through the week.
