West Virginia Weather Alert: Rain Tonight, Chilly Temps and Weekend Snow Possible for Charleston

Charleston, WV – Rain will arrive in Charleston late Wednesday night, bringing colder temperatures and a chance of snow this weekend. Residents should prepare for slick roads and fluctuating temperatures as the week progresses.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin after 3 a.m. Thursday, with a low around 49°F. Winds from the southwest will reach up to 9 mph. By Thursday afternoon, temperatures will fall to a high of 54°F, with rain tapering off after 2 p.m. However, scattered showers remain possible into the evening, with overnight lows dropping to 33°F.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 54°F, but colder temperatures will move in by the weekend. Saturday’s high is expected to reach only 52°F, with a 30% chance of rain showers after 2 p.m. By Saturday night, those showers could transition to snow as temperatures dip to 24°F.

Sunday will be much colder, with a high near 39°F under sunny skies. The cold trend continues into next week, with lows in the 20s and highs struggling to reach the mid-40s.

Travelers should stay updated on road conditions, especially on major routes like I-64, as temperatures fluctuate. Check local forecasts regularly for updates on potential snow accumulations.
