Charleston, WV – The first signs of spring arrive Monday with warmer temperatures, but rain, wind, and even snow could impact midweek plans.

According to the National Weather Service, Charleston will see sunny skies and a high of 49°F on Monday, with calm conditions continuing into the evening. However, a strong storm system will move in by Tuesday night, bringing a mix of heavy rain and gusty winds. By early Wednesday, rain will transition into snow showers as temperatures drop, with wind gusts reaching 40 mph.

Residents should prepare for potential power outages and difficult travel conditions Wednesday morning, especially in higher elevations. Rain will begin late Tuesday, with a 90% chance of precipitation overnight. By early Wednesday, colder air could create slick roads as rain mixes with snow.

The five-day forecast shows temperature swings and changing conditions throughout the week:

Monday: Sunny, high of 49°F, light winds.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, high of 66°F, with showers developing late at night.

Wednesday: High of 69°F, windy, with heavy rain in the morning before changing to snow after midnight.

Thursday: Snow showers possible early, then cloudy with a high near 40°F.

Friday: Mostly sunny, high of 54°F.

Drivers should be cautious midweek as conditions shift rapidly. Stay updated on road closures and power outage reports.
