Lubbock, Texas – Drivers across the South Plains may face limited visibility through mid-morning Wednesday as patchy fog blankets much of West Texas before clearer, warmer conditions take over.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, fog is expected to linger until around 10 a.m., particularly in low-lying areas and near open fields. After the fog lifts, sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures will spread across the region, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-60s to mid-70s. Winds will remain light out of the northwest at 5 to 15 mph.

In Lubbock and Childress, residents can expect highs near 71°F, while Plainview will top out around 66°F. Farther south, Brownfield will see a high of 72°F, and Aspermont is forecast to hit 76°F. Cooler pockets like Friona may stay closer to 63°F.

Motorists should use low beams and reduce speed during the foggy morning hours, especially along U.S. 84 and FM 1585, where visibility may drop quickly. As skies clear, it’s a good opportunity to check HVAC systems and hydration as warmer spring afternoons return.

No additional advisories are in place, but updates will be issued if conditions change.
