Midland, TX – A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for southeast New Mexico and west Texas from 9 p.m. MST (10 p.m. CST) Thursday to 8 a.m. MST (9 a.m. CST) Friday, with wind chills expected to drop as low as 0°F.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland warns that areas such as Hobbs, Carlsbad, Pecos, and Big Spring could experience dangerous cold overnight.

Residents should wear layered clothing, bring pets indoors, and let faucets drip to prevent pipes from freezing. Outdoor workers should take frequent breaks to avoid cold-related illnesses.

Temperatures will begin to rise Friday afternoon, but another wave of Arctic air may return next week.
