Memphis, TN – A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday for much of western Tennessee and parts of northern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.
Forecasters say northwest winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph, are expected throughout the day. The strongest winds are anticipated during the late morning and early afternoon hours, potentially causing difficulty for high-profile vehicles and blowing around loose outdoor objects.
According to the weather service, residents should secure trash bins, decorations, and patio furniture before heading out. Power interruptions are not expected to be widespread but could occur in isolated spots due to fallen limbs.
Drivers traveling along Interstate 40, I-55, and Highway 78 should use extra caution, especially when crossing bridges or open stretches. Conditions are expected to gradually ease after sunset.
