West Michigan Snowstorm Dumps Over 11 Inches in Mason and Oceana Counties

Grand Rapids, MI – A powerful snowstorm blanketed parts of West Michigan, with totals exceeding a foot in some areas. Mason and Oceana Counties led snowfall reports, accumulating between 6 to 12 inches. The city of Hart recorded 11.5 inches, the highest total.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the heaviest snowfall occurred west of US-131, with localized amounts over a foot. Grand Rapids received 7.2 inches, while Ludington and Brunswick saw 8 and 7.1 inches, respectively.

Inland areas experienced lighter totals, ranging from 1 to 5 inches, with the highest amounts south of I-96. Areas like Lowell and Charlotte recorded 3 to 4 inches.

The NWS urged residents to report additional snowfall as the storm continued to impact travel. Road conditions remained hazardous, with plows working to clear major routes.

Residents should exercise caution while traveling and prepare for lingering icy conditions. Officials reminded the public to monitor updates and avoid unnecessary travel.

This early-season storm highlights the potential for heavy snow across Michigan this winter.
