Cheyenne, WY – Travelers in Cheyenne and nearby areas should prepare for dangerous conditions as dense fog and wintry weather grip the region this weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Dense Fog Advisory effective until 9 a.m. Friday, impacting Interstate 80 and 25. Visibility could drop below a quarter-mile, creating hazardous travel conditions. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

According to the NWS, fog is expected to lift by mid-morning today, but additional challenges are on the way. Overnight, temperatures will dip to 27°F, bringing a mix of freezing rain and fog. By Saturday, snow accumulation is forecasted along with a high of 38°F. The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 11 a.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday, warning of 2 to 6 inches of snow accumulation in Cheyenne and surrounding areas.

Motorists traveling on I-80 should remain cautious, as icy patches and blowing snow could further reduce visibility. Saturday evening will see clearing skies with a low of 32°F, offering temporary relief before temperatures drop into the mid-20s.

Looking ahead, Veterans Day on Monday is expected to be sunny with highs around 53°F, providing a respite from the weekend’s adverse weather. However, those traveling this weekend should stay updated on local forecasts and prepare for possible delays, especially on major routes such as Interstate 80 and Interstate 25.

Stay tuned to local weather updates for the latest on travel conditions, and plan accordingly for the unpredictable Wyoming weather this weekend.
