Indianapolis, IN – Frigid temperatures will persist tonight with lows dipping to 6 degrees, but a warming trend is on the horizon. Hoosiers can expect isolated flurries on Saturday before a welcome rise in temperatures kicks off by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Indianapolis will experience clear skies Friday, with a high near 21 degrees and west winds around 7 mph. However, snow flurries are expected Saturday morning, primarily before 1 p.m. While accumulations are not anticipated, slick spots could develop on roadways like Interstate 465, especially in shaded areas.

Saturday’s high will reach 27 degrees, offering a slight reprieve from the bitter cold, though gusty southwest winds of up to 21 mph may make it feel colder. By Sunday, temperatures will rise further, reaching a high of 30 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.

Warmer conditions will take hold early next week. Monday will be sunny with a high near 38 degrees, marking the warmest day in over a week. Gusty winds, however, could affect outdoor plans, with speeds reaching 25 mph at times.

Travelers and residents are advised to prepare for potential snow-covered roads Saturday morning and to dress warmly in layered clothing throughout the weekend. Keep an eye on updated forecasts and road conditions, especially if traveling across central Indiana.
