Chicago, IL – Warm temperatures on Friday will give way to storms and gusty winds, with a mix of rain and snow possible by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be partly sunny with a high near 72°F. However, increasing winds from the south will bring gusts up to 45 mph by nightfall, along with a 90% chance of rain and potential thunderstorms. Travelers and outdoor event planners should prepare for rapidly changing conditions.

Saturday will see a brief break in storms, with highs reaching 65°F under partly sunny skies. However, light showers are possible in the afternoon and evening. Winds will remain gusty, making driving conditions tricky, especially along major roadways like I-90 and I-94.

By Sunday, colder air moves in, with rain expected in the morning before transitioning to a mix of rain and snow by afternoon. The high will only reach 45°F, a sharp drop from Friday’s warmth. Those traveling Sunday morning should watch for slick roads, particularly in the northern suburbs and areas west of Chicago.

Looking ahead, Monday will be mostly clear with highs near 58°F, followed by a cooler and partly cloudy Tuesday at 67°F. A chance of showers returns by Wednesday.

Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and secure loose outdoor objects ahead of Friday night’s strong winds.
