QUAD CITIES, IL – Clear skies are expected Friday across the Quad Cities, offering a break from this week’s patchy fog and cloud cover. Residents can enjoy sunny and mild conditions, but should prepare for potential rain showers Saturday afternoon into Veterans Day on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS predicts Friday will be mostly sunny, with highs reaching the upper 50s to low 60s and calm winds. However, the weather will shift by Saturday as clouds build, bringing a 50% chance of light showers in the afternoon. Showers are likely to continue into Saturday night, with temperatures cooling into the upper 40s. Veterans Day events on Sunday could face intermittent rain, so those attending outdoor observances should consider packing umbrellas and rain gear.
According to the NWS, the fog will linger overnight into Friday morning, potentially reducing visibility along major roads, including Interstate 74 and Route 61 in Davenport. Drivers should take extra caution, particularly during early morning hours when fog is densest.
Looking ahead to the start of next week, the forecast calls for dry and sunny weather. Monday and Tuesday are expected to bring highs in the low 60s, with a low chance of rain until Tuesday night. This brief dry spell will likely provide ideal conditions for any delayed Veterans Day ceremonies or outdoor activities in the Quad Cities area.
With cooler temperatures settling in after the weekend, residents should monitor weather updates and prepare for changing conditions. Spotter activation for severe weather will not be necessary this weekend, but those traveling in fog-prone areas are advised to stay alert.
