Hanford, CA – Snow and rain are expected to impact the Sierra Nevada and San Joaquin Valley starting Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a weak upper-level system bringing over one inch of snow to higher elevations, including Yosemite National Park.
According to the NWS, areas such as Wawona and Vogelsang have a 55% and 30% chance of snow accumulation, respectively. Rainfall is also anticipated, with a 60% chance in Merced by Monday morning. Precipitation could create slick roads and hazardous driving conditions across the region.
Travelers are urged to delay plans if possible. Drivers are advised to use caution on bridges, hills, and mountain roads. The storm is weaker than the system that affected Central California this weekend but could still disrupt travel.
Local residents should prepare for potential road closures and infrastructure delays. The highest snowfall probabilities are for Monday afternoon into Tuesday. Lower elevations like the San Joaquin Valley may experience light rainfall rather than snow.
Stay updated with real-time forecasts and monitor road conditions closely as the storm develops.
