Paducah, KY – A Freeze Warning remains in effect for Carter and Wayne Counties, Missouri, as temperatures are forecast to dip to around 30 degrees early Sunday morning, marking one of the first widespread freezes of the season.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the warning is active from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. CST Sunday, Nov. 2, covering communities including Van Buren and Piedmont.

Forecasters caution that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and sensitive vegetation and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover plants, wrap exposed pipes, and drain outdoor sprinklers before the cold sets in overnight.

The chill comes as a high-pressure system settles over the Ozarks, bringing clear skies and calm winds that allow temperatures to fall sharply before sunrise. Daytime highs on Sunday are expected to rebound into the mid-50s, with another cold night possible early next week.

The NWS reminds residents that this weekend’s freeze may effectively end the growing season across parts of southeast Missouri.
