Spokane, WA – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for areas of Western Chelan and Western Okanogan counties, with heavy snowfall expected from Saturday morning through Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service announced Thursday that higher elevations above 4,000 feet could see accumulations of 12 to 24 inches of snow, while valley areas may receive 1 to 6 inches. The affected areas include Winthrop, Stehekin, Holden Village, Twisp, Methow, Conconully, Stevens Pass, Mazama, and Loup Loup Pass.

According to the advisory, snow may briefly transition to rain at Stevens Pass on Sunday morning, potentially creating slushy conditions before returning to snow in the afternoon. Travel through the region could become hazardous or impossible, particularly in higher elevation passes.

Residents and travelers are urged to prepare for significant winter weather impacts and monitor updated forecasts as conditions evolve.
