Seattle, WA – A winter weather advisory has been issued for the West Slopes of the North Central Cascades, with up to 12 inches of snow expected. The advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday for elevations above 2,500 feet.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snowfall is forecast to intensify throughout Friday, creating dangerous travel conditions. The storm could bring snow accumulations ranging from 8 to 12 inches, with localized higher totals due to convergence zone showers late Friday. Key areas affected include Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass, and Skykomish.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous conditions as roads may become impassable. Motorists are urged to carry chains, slow down, and use extra caution while traveling through the affected areas.

The storm may also lead to isolated power outages due to heavy snow loads on trees and power lines. Residents living in impacted areas should ensure they have flashlights, extra food, and water on hand in case of emergencies.

In addition to travel challenges, outdoor activities at higher elevations should be avoided until conditions improve. Snowfall is expected to ease by Saturday morning, though minor impacts may linger throughout the day.

The advisory emphasizes preparedness and vigilance for those living near the affected mountain passes. Stay updated on road conditions and closures by checking the Washington State Department of Transportation website.
