Spokane, WA – Spokane is bracing for its hottest day of the summer so far, with temperatures expected to soar to 99°F by Tuesday afternoon amid a prolonged heat wave gripping eastern Washington.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, the region will see steadily rising temperatures starting Sunday, with highs near 89°F, climbing to 95°F Monday and peaking at 99°F Tuesday. The pattern will be marked by dry skies, light winds, and little overnight relief, with lows remaining in the 60s through midweek.

The heat poses an increased risk for heat-related illness, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and outdoor workers. Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.

Temperatures will remain above normal through Friday, with highs expected to stay in the mid to upper 90s. Cooling shelters may open if extreme heat persists beyond Tuesday. The heat is also raising fire danger levels, particularly in the dry grasslands around Spokane Valley and Airway Heights.

High heat warnings or advisories could be issued Monday if trends continue. Residents should monitor updates and take precautions now to stay safe through the hottest stretch of the season.
