Spokane, Washington – A stretch of dry heat is locking in across eastern Washington, with Spokane soaring to 90°F on Wednesday and no rain in sight. Fire danger will rise sharply midweek and persist into Sunday, especially along I-90 where dry grasses and gusty breezes increase ignition risk.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, sunny skies and light winds will push temperatures to near-record territory by Wednesday afternoon. Winds will remain calm in the morning before picking up to 5 mph later in the day. Overnight lows will hover in the 50s, offering limited relief.

From Thursday through Saturday, highs will stay in the mid to upper 80s, with Friday and Saturday both peaking at 90°F. Mostly clear nights mean fire fuels won’t recover much moisture, especially in outlying areas like Cheney and Airway Heights. Residents should avoid outdoor burns, check vehicle tow chains, and remain vigilant for wildfire warnings.

By Sunday, temperatures stay warm — topping out around 88°F — with a slight uptick in humidity. However, fire danger remains elevated. Monday brings a small chance (20%) of afternoon showers, but it likely won’t be enough to ease the week-long dry spell.

Five-Day Weather Snapshot:

  • Wednesday: Sunny, 90°F
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, 84°F
  • Friday: Sunny, 83°F
  • Saturday: Sunny, 90°F
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, 88°F
