Spokane, WA – A strong storm system is expected to bring heavy showers and possible thunderstorms to Spokane throughout Friday, before skies begin clearing Saturday. Travelers and residents should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads, especially along U.S. Route 2 and local routes heading west of the city.

According to the National Weather Service, Spokane faces a 90% chance of precipitation through 5 p.m. Friday, with isolated thunderstorms possible between 3 and 5 p.m. Winds may reach up to 11 mph, with rainfall totals approaching a tenth of an inch outside of storm bursts. Commuters should allow extra travel time and avoid low-lying areas prone to ponding.

Conditions improve overnight Friday, with partly cloudy skies and lows around 36°F. Saturday looks drier and more stable, with partly sunny skies and highs near 56°F. Winds will ease into the evening, making it ideal for outdoor plans.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with temperatures again reaching 56°F. However, rain chances return late Sunday night into Monday morning. A mix of rain and snow could fall early Monday as snow levels drop to 4100 feet.

The extended outlook includes:

  • Monday: Rain likely, high 51°F.
  • Tuesday: Partly sunny, slight chance of rain. High 48°F.
  • Wednesday: Snow levels near 3800 feet, mix of sun and clouds. High 44°F.
