Wenatchee, WA – Triple-digit heat will grip Central Washington starting Sunday afternoon, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 105°F across the Wenatchee and Moses Lake areas, prompting an Extreme Heat Warning through 9 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, the warning covers cities including Chelan, Othello, Cashmere, Ephrata, and Quincy, where highs between 95 and 105°F are forecast. Overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s will offer minimal relief, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and use air-conditioned spaces whenever possible. Vulnerable groups, including the elderly and young children, are especially at risk. OSHA recommends frequent shaded breaks for outdoor workers and warns that heat stroke can be fatal without immediate action.
Car interiors will become deadly within minutes—never leave pets or children inside. Power demand may also spike; residents should charge essential devices and prepare for possible brownouts.
The heat warning remains in effect through Tuesday evening. More alerts could follow if the heat wave intensifies or extends into midweek.
