Grand Coulee, WA – Residents of the Upper Columbia Basin are under a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m. Friday, as freezing fog creates dangerous travel conditions. Visibility is expected to drop to a quarter mile or less, with slick roads adding to the hazards.
According to the National Weather Service, areas including Grand Coulee, Wilbur, and Odessa will see significant impacts. Highways, including Interstate 90 east of Moses Lake and Highway 2 between Coulee City and Davenport, are expected to be particularly treacherous.
Drivers are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles. Freezing temperatures combined with the fog increase the risk of accidents on untreated roads.
With Black Friday shoppers and Thanksgiving travelers on the move, delays are likely. Officials urge caution for those heading out during the early morning hours.
