Desert Aire, WA – A 2.9 magnitude earthquake was detected early Monday, shaking communities southeast of Desert Aire, Washington. The quake struck at approximately 3:22 a.m. UTC, with a depth of 8 km, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

According to the USGS report, the epicenter was located about 12 kilometers southeast of Desert Aire. Though minor in magnitude, the tremor was felt by local residents, who have been encouraged to report their experiences through the USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” survey. Early reports indicate that at least eight residents submitted responses, describing the quake’s effects.

Seismic activity in the area is not uncommon, with past events occurring within a 250-kilometer radius.
