Washington D.C. – A slow-moving low-pressure system will bring showers and thunderstorms to the Washington D.C. metro area through Tuesday, with the potential for some of the storms to become severe by Monday evening. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain slightly above normal, ranging from 70°F to 77°F today, and 72°F to 80°F by Monday.

The unsettled weather will begin with morning showers today, giving way to scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be light, from the south at 5 to 10 mph. As the system moves into Monday, more widespread thunderstorms are expected, possibly strong, with high temperatures climbing to the low 80s.

By Tuesday, scattered showers and thunderstorms may persist, with temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to the low 70s. The main concerns will be strong wind gusts and localized flooding from heavy rain.

Residents are advised to stay alert for changing weather conditions, particularly in the late afternoon and evening hours, when thunderstorms could strengthen.
