Jonesborough, TN – Washington County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Johnson City man wanted for multiple charges including Especially Aggravated Stalking and Harassment, according to Sheriff Keith Sexton.
Deputies located Tommy Ray Van Etteger Jr., 27, on Nov. 1, after a multi-county search. Van Etteger allegedly had warrants in Washington County for Especially Aggravated Stalking and Harassment, and in Sullivan County for Aggravated Domestic Assault. Authorities say the warrants stem from incidents between September 22 and 30, 2025.
According to Sheriff Sexton, the harassment charge is tied to text messages threatening to kill an individual, while the aggravated stalking charge involves multiple messages sent across several apps threatening to burn homes and shoot various people.
Deputies reportedly found Van Etteger at a residence on Sunflower Lane after spotting him driving on Old Stage Road. He allegedly fled but was later located. Inside his vehicle, deputies discovered a gallon-size bag of marijuana, additional bags in a cooler, and drug paraphernalia in his backpack, totaling 6.74 ounces of marijuana.
Van Etteger faces additional charges of Evading Arrest and Schedule VI Drug Violations. He was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on a $90,250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 3.
