Washington and Oregon Winter Storm Warning Remains in Effect Through Wednesday

Spokane, WA – A powerful winter storm continues to impact parts of Washington and Oregon, with heavy snow and strong winds expected to create hazardous conditions through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Spokane, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for areas including Wenatchee, Chelan, and Leavenworth until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Snowfall totals of 6 to 12 inches are expected at higher elevations, while lower elevations may see 2 to 6 inches. Winds could reach 40 mph on the Waterville Plateau, increasing the risk of power outages from downed lines.

In Western Okanogan County, snow accumulations are forecast to range from 7 to 20 inches, depending on elevation, with winds gusting up to 50 mph. The warning extends through 4 p.m. Wednesday, with hazardous travel expected in valley and mountain areas.

In Oregon, the lower eastern slopes of the Cascades face similar conditions, with snow totals up to 16 inches and gusts of 40 mph expected until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers in affected areas should prepare for low visibility and slick roads.

The NWS urges residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and flashlights, if travel is unavoidable.
